Monday Poker Tournament at Addy's

Tonight's poker tournament is at Addy's Bar and Grill in Manassas, VA. We have two tournaments, one at 7:00 and one at 9:30. First place in the 7:00 tournament is $50 cash, and in the 9:30 tournament $25 cash. Addy's also hosts the Bad Beat Jackpot, see Merle for details.

This Saturday's Regional Tournament has been postponed due to inclement weather. The new date is Saturday, February 20th. Check the web page for more information on the Regional Tournament.

Poker in Fairfax

Starting Wednesday, February 17th, the Red, White, and Blue Poker League will be player Texas Hold'em poker tournaments at Carlos O'Kelly's in Fairfax. It's a Mexican Cafe. People say the food is good. Robert ate there and didn't die.

The tournament starts at 7:00, registration begins at 6:00. Show up early and join Robert for some dinner. The combinations are reasonably priced. We have the tables in the bar area.

There will be two tournaments, one at 7:00 and one at 9:30. It's free to play and there are prizes for the winners.

We started in Fairfax in 2005. Now, we are back. We hope to see you at Carlos O'Kelly's.

Saturday Poker

The league is now playing poker on Saturday nights at Americas on Lomond at Sudley, in Manassas. We generally have two tournaments, one at 7:00 and the second at 10:00.

This makes six nights of poker each week in Manassas. Come and join us for Saturday night poker. The food at Americas is great. It's an all new place on the inside, with all new furniture. It's the most fun you can have playing poker on a Saturday night.

Regional Tournament Date Changed

Because of last week's snow, we postponed the Regional Tournament.

The new date is Saturday, February 20, 2010. Doors open at noon, we deal cards at 2:00. Come early and have a bite to eat before the tournament starts. For non 1st place winners, seats are available on a first come first served basis. So arrive early to lock in your seat.

First place in the Regional is $400. There will be some other prizes as well. Plus the winner gets an estimated more than 2,600 points.

The 2:00 tournament will last about six hours for the winner. There will be a second game at 5:00 for the losers of the first tournament. And for those who want more poker, there is a 10:00 PM poker tournament at America's bar & Grill.

Josh Unseated by a Girl

Can Robert be any "moore" sexist with a headline like that?

Surrounded by Tuesday night's snow at KC's, Nancy Moore battled 50 players and came out on top - winning first place in the 10:00 tournament. Shirley Piel took second place.

With tonight's win, this makes Nancy the first person to topple Josh and take first place in overall points away from him. JC Braden took first place in the 7:00 tournament, and Stan Moore took second place.

Where do you rank in points?

JC Places First in Poker Tournament

JC Braden claimed victory on Tuesday night at KC's American Grille as he took all comers and their last chip to win the 7:00 poker tournament. Stan Moore came in second place. Nancy Moore won the 10:00 game with Shirley Piel coming in second place.

Doug Flynn took third, Demetrius Winston 4th, Nick Walker 5th, Cornell Evans 6th, Ronnie Thomas 7th, and Sue Hash 8th place.

In the 10:00 poker tournament, Ronnie Thomas III got, well, 3rd. David Hawn 4th, Debbie Alexander 5th, Eddie Piel 6th, Roy Dennis 7th, and Jerk Store was first to be cast out from the final table.

Where can you have more fun playing poker than at KC's American Grille?

Help Wanted

The Red, White, and Blue Poker league is expanding. We now have poker six days a week in Manassas, and we are moving into Fairfax. And Robert is looking for people to help him run poker tournaments.

The job requires a reasonable knowledge of poker and good customer service skills. Just like in a poker hand, it's more important to know how to handle people than to handle cards. Duties include setting up the tournament, registering players and new members, handing out chips, cards, and bonuses. You have to be able to communicate to people when upcoming events will happen, such as being able to communicate to people when the 10:00 game starts.

Successful candidates have to be able to run the game, not let the game run them. It's a one person job, so you have to be dependable and be able to communicate. You will be in charge of the tournaments and running them on your own.

We hold our tournaments to a higher standard than other leagues, so you have to follow the rules of running the tournament and help others understand the rules of playing poker.

Want to help the league grow? Want to help run one of the largest poker tournaments in the area? Talk to Robert. Look for him at a poker tournament, or call him at (703) 599-1036.

Sue Leads in Top Points

Monday night was our first tournament of February and we held the tournament at Addy's. Eight tables of players showed up to play poker. Nick Walker won the 7:00 poker tournament, and a man only known as "Jerk Store" won the second tournament.

We can't find a picture of Nick, and no one has a picture of "Jerk Store," so here is Sue's picture. Sue is the number oine Top Points leader without a first place win. The top ten such players include David Hawn, Lynda Morrison, Eddie Piel, Paul Crigger, Nick Durham, Tonya Wise, DJ Wheeler, Nicole Sanderson, and Thomas Wilson. Pat Allen is 11th.

On the Points Page these players are listed in Blue. Most of them will turn to Green before the quarter is over when they get their first place win.

Are you Green, Blue, or Black?

Ronnie Wins, or Does He?

Someone named Ronnie Thomas won both tournaments on Sunday night. But there seems to be two different players with that name.

Ronnie Thomas won the second tournament at KC's American Grille on Sunday. Oddly enough, his son, Ronnie Thomas won the first tournament. Loren Lazear won second place in the first tournament, and Sue Hash won second place in the second tournament. This makes back to back wins for Ronnie Thomas as he also won last night's Saturday poker tournament.

The server in Atlanta could not tell the difference between the two Ronnie Thomases, so all the points for both of them went to the Dad. The points software matches winners table points, not by your Member Number, but by how you name is spelled. And Father and son both spell their names the same. So we fixed that by changing the name of the younger player to Ronnie Thomas III.

The old software used to "lose" the points from anyone who did not have a member number written down. For that matter, the points got lost if you wrote down the wrong member number. Now the winners table points are calculated by the spelling of your name. The attendance points use your member number to look up your name in the players database and combine that with the name people enter who did not write their member number.

It's all magic, and the magic failed for a few days. But with the new software your points from the winners table are on the website usually before you leave the building.

Americas Poker Tournament a Success

Our first Saturday night poker tournament at Americas Bar & Grill was quite a success. Despite snow falling all day before, and all night during the tournament, we had six tables of poker players at the first tournament and four tables at the second tournament.

It was a fun way to spend a Saturday night. And the food... people said excellent, delicious, thumbs up. Definitely the best food of any venue we play poker in.

We can come close to doubling the capcity of the place. Invite your friends - come and play Saturday poker with us. Check the poker calendar.

Ronnie Thomas (Jr.) won the first tournament, with Lynda Morrison coming in second. Don Jenkins took third as the snow fell.

Nile Club Chips

Need some quality poker chips for your home game?

Consider the Nile Club Casino Quality Ceramic Poker Chip Set. The Nile Club is presented as a fictional Egyptian casino and each chip within the set displays its own unique historical inlay design. The Nile Club is a classy look for any poker chip enthusiast and offers players a true casino quality look and feel.

The Nile Club is a ceramic poker chip. Many casinos around the world use ceramic chips. Ceramic chips are of a much higher quality than composite or even most clay composites. Ceramic chips have a smooth surface and the graphics are printed directly on the chip as opposed to an inlay or sticker used on Clay Chips.

The Nile Club chips are 39mm in diameter and weigh 10 grams (casino weight is 10 grams). The edge spots are aligned and match up to the face of the chips, a feature that many ceramic chips do not offer.

See Robert to order a set of these for your home game.

Linda Brown Wins Poker Tournament

Playing at KC's Thursday poker tournament, Lind Brown took first place, with Debbie Alexander coming in second.

It's always a good night when Linda graces our poker tables with her presence. Her smile brightens up the evening, and Linda's eyes are just a mirror for the sun.

We had a good crowd. The place was filled with people eating and drinking. Business was so brisk we even ran out of chicken fingers. The first game had Stan Moore win first place, and Nancy Moore took second.

Stan and Nancy. A great husband and wife team of poker players. But we still can't tell which of them is the better poker player in the family.

Snowman Email

Did you get your Snowman email?

We sent out a special Bonus Coupon email for the Last Wednesday poker tournament on Monday 1/25 at about noon. The regular email was sent about an hour and a half later. If you did not get the "snowman" email, then you are probably not on our General Poker email list.

We don't put you on the General Poker email list. Only you can do that by signing up online yourself. If you get emails from us (but not the snowman email), then you need to change your email preferences and add yourself to the General Poker email list.

You can change your preferences by entering your email address in the "sign up for our email newsletter" box in the left column of the webpage.

Tony Tripi Earns First Place Win

In the Last Wednesday Poker tournament at Addy's, Tony Tripi came in first place in the second tournament. Tony keeps trying for a first place win in the first tournament, but that victory remains elusive to him.

Travis Strausbaugh won first place in the main tournament. This was a happy ending to Travis's stay in the Manassas area. He's from out of town and we won't see him for awhile. Nick Durham, a former Regional Tournament winner, took second place.

Travis got about 2,000 points for his win, and Tony got about 580 points for his win. This makes the number one player on the leaderboard.... Josh. It's always Josh.

Nettie Mobley Bubbles to the Top

Finally, just before January ends, Nettie made a first place win. This happened at KC's first tournament on Tuesday night.

Somehow this propels Nettie to second place overall in the points. She has only the mighty Josh to challenge her now. Can she overtake Josh? Can Nettie maintain her points lead?

Raymond Valderama took second place in the tournament, making him 16th overall in points. In the second tournament Shirley Piel took first place. And a mystery man, known only as "Jerk Store" came in second.

Ed Bond Wins Tournament

Bond. Ed Bond. Ed took the tournament at Addy's Bar and Grill on Monday night.

You can generally find Ed at table five when the poker tournament starts, and tonight Ed ended up at table five by taking first place in the Monday night tournament. This puts Mr. bond in 5th place overall in points on the leaderboard. The final table included the usual suspects including Dan, Nettie, Bob, Natasha, Josh, and David.

Ed also made it to the final table in the second game. The second tournament was won by Evertt Willis. Also seen were Luis Guzman, Nettie Mobley, Josh Jacobson, Dan Zentz, and Roy Dennis.

Nancy Moore Wins First Place

On Sunday night, Nancy Moore won first place in the second poker tournament and got her name in green on the poker leaderboard.

Nancy beat out Josh to get the title, though Josh still has "moore" points. Come to think of it, Nancy's husband, Stan, came in third in the same tournament. Now who's the better poker player in that family?

Robert Brown came in first in the 5:00 tournament, but we don't have a photo of him :) Allen Foote made an appearance and came in second in the first tournament. Nancy and Stan were also seen at the final table.

If you need to get your name in green on he leader board, the Sunday tournaments are a good place to do this. Currently, the Sunday tournaments are the smallest we have. Hope to see you at the poker table.

Green, Blue, or Black?

Are you Green, Blue, or Black?

When you look at the Points Page to see where you rank in overall points you will find your name is either in green, blue, or black. The green and the blue are also in bold. If you have a first place win, then your name is in green. If you have multiple first place wins, then the number of wins you have will be in parenthesis next to your name.

If your name is in blue, this means you do not have a first place win but you are in the Top Points without a first place win. While once you turn green you stay green, when you are blue you can change back to black or turn green. The list of people in blue - the Top Points players - changes, or can change every day.

If you are in black that means you are not one of the Poker Giants. You do not yet have a first place win, and you do not yet have enough points to make it to the top. Keep playing, you will get there.

The green and the blue players get a guaranteed seat at the Regional Tournament. They also get any other special privileges such as double chips at the Regional Tournament. The list of green and blue players will expand to be the top 100 or so players by the end of the quarter.

WiFi at all Poker Tournaments

Bring your laptop and use the internet at all poker locations. Both Addy's and KC's have WiFi internet access. (That is 802.11 for some of you.)

You can look up the changes in your points from the first tournament. Play online poker at Doyle's Room. Catch up on email or get some work done. Look at hamster porn. Check out the Red, White, and Blue Poker League photo galleries. Just another way to make your poker night a little more fun

So bring your laptop with you to the poker tournaments.

Make Money at Home

I'm Robert, I founded the poker league, and I make money at home using my computer. There are several things I do and I'd like to tell you about one of them. Last year I made $389 from completing surveys.

It's fun and easy. The company sends you an email inviting you to participate in a survey. Some surveys pay $30 or more, others only $3 or $1. They only take a few minutes. After you complete the survey the money is credited to your account. You can request a check anytime you want - I've requested checks several times and never had a problem getting my money.

Don't quit your day job for this, but if you find yourself with free time and a computer in front of you then it is a good thing. It's great if you don't work or have downtime between projects. Your answers also get to help shape the way products are introduced and sold. And it's fun.

Click to sign up to take surveys.

New Year's Resolution

Does your New Year's Resolution involve exercise and working out? If you have any thought of joining a Gym, then talk to Jackie Jones, one of our players you see at the final table often.

Jackie is the manager of Anytime Fitness in Bristow. They are located in the Harris-Teeter shopping center. It's just a couple of miles from KC's down 28/Center Street/Nokesville Rd.

They have state of the art cardio, free weights, tanning, and classes included in your membership. And live dancing hamsters.

End of Year Photos

We all had fun at the Red, White, and Blue Poker League's end of the year 2009 poker tournament at KC's American Grille, the best bar in Olde Towne Manassas. We had nine tables of players for the first game and five tables for the second game. Robert thanks you for being there and Allison, our waitress, extends a special thanks for all your generosity.

The first batch of photos are available from that day - more to come soon. Take a look at the photos we have posted on Facebook in our FaceBook Photo Album, and add your comments to the photos.

We are glad everyone had a lot of fun. The event was special because you were there.

Brian Wins Bad Beat Jackpot

On Wednesday evening at Addy's, Brian Wilson went all in with a Jack high Diamond straight flush and lost to a Queen high straight flush.

Now that is a Bad Beat, and Brian won the Bad Beat jackpot. Robert Messick won the chips in the poker tournament, and Brian won $430 for his Bad Beat.

Play poker at Addy's and turn your losing hand into a win.

First Win of the Year 2010

Derick Almond became our first 1st place tournament winner of the year on Monday, January 4, 2010 while playing at Addy's Bar and Grill in Manassas, Va. Queen-Jack suited (Hearts) become his winning hand. Derick won and ended up with all the chips in the game.

For winning, Derick gets 35% of the points pool, or 17.5 points for every player who signs in for the game. (If you didn't sign in, then you cheated Derick out of 17.5 points - remember to sign in). Derick also got $50 in cash, but what is money compared to points?

Will Derick be able to keep his lead in points? He going to need a few more appearances at the final table. Look for Derick at the final table, but fold if he raises you.

Josh - #1 Ranked Player

After tabulating the points for the Red, White, and Blue Poker league, Josh is the number one ranked player for 4th Quarter 2009.

Not what you expected? Well, it surprised us too. We audited the paper copies of the sign-in sheets and the Winners Table sheets and found that yes, Josh really did earn all those points. Maybe it was performance enhancing drugs? Well, the blood tests will take a few days.

Everyone congratulate Josh on his poker performance. He got four (4) 1st place wins as well as making the Winners Table 38% of all games he played in. That is some good poker.

Go All-In in the Cold

Laura does not let the snow bother her when she decides to go all-in. Even the cold won't keep her away from playing poker.

Come play poker with the Red, White, and Blue Poker League. Don't let the snow or the cold bother you. We play Texas Hold'em poker tournaments five days a week in Manassas, VA. Sunday through Thursday. There are two chances to win each evening. And if you can't make it to the Winner's Table, you can play at the Loser's Table between the two tournaments.

Come play poker with us. Play to win, play to have fun, play for points, play for prizes.

Whats more fun than poker?

Sunday Poker

Football season is over and we are once again playing poker on Sundays at KC's American Grille.

Join us each Sunday at 5:00 and 8:00 for Texas Hold'em Poker Tournaments, like on TV. We have two tournaments each evening. The tournament lasts about three hours for the winner, and slightly less for the other players. You can earn points and track them on our points page. We also have prizes for first and second place in each tournament.

It's free to play - no cost or buy-in - and you can win prizes. Play for the prizes, play for the points, play to improve your poker skills. But most of all, play to have fun!

Largest Poker Tournament in the Area

The Red, White, and Blue Poker League hosts the largest poker tournament in the area.  Our Addy's poker location recently had 17 tables of poker players on a Wednesday evening, with over 150 players in our 7:00 poker tournament. It is common for tournaments to have more than 100 players, and we have never run out of seats - everyone who comes gets to play.

We have fun, and we play poker seriously.  Our larger tournaments give you more of a casino tournament feel.  If you want to play at and win in casinos, this is the best practice for you in the area.  Not only are our tournaments the largest in the area, but we continually get comments from players that ours are the best run tournaments in the area.

It's free to play, and you can win prizes and cash. And unlike a casino or a home game, it costs you nothing to lose.
